Uncanny X-Men #456 by Goodnight |
We left the X-Men last time being watched by some lizard creatures. The X-Men had come directly from Spain after receiving an emergency beacon from Wolverine's plane. Wolverine was helping and old friend Mary McKenna when they and the stowaway X23 were attacked by the lizards. Once they arrive, they find Mary dead, X23 crazed and wolverine nowhere to be found. We begin #456 with the lizards attacking the X-Men but are quickly fooled by a Marvel Girl trick. Marvel Girl searches one of there minds to find they are evolved from dinosaurs that call themselves the Hauk'ka, being fooled they call for backup. We then jump to the blackbird where Psylocke is locked up and doing some soul searching. Back to the fight, here comes backup, three super powered lizard guys, one a telepath. The fight rages until the telepath takes over Marvel Girls mind, she in turn takes out Storm, the only X-Men that was making headway against the lizards, thereby killing the X-Men’s chances. They are all taken hostage and taken away, except X-23, she got away and headed back to the blackbird to release Psylocke. Psylocke free takes out some left over lizards and her and X23 are off to save the rest of the team. Another
great X-Men. Lots of action, great fight scenes and great art. It is
a well put together storyline so far. The one negative is this, I hate
when they put a character on the cover who is not even in the book,
a great cover of Wolverine and only one picture of him in the whole
comic. This has been a good series thus far and am definitely looking
forward to the conclusion.
