On
Tuesday of this week, super genius/super hero, Bruce Banner was
sentenced and executed for the murder of over 800 people. The belated
trial was quick, and almost seemed to be a formality, as no one
could forget or forgive the carnage and horror caused by The Hulk’s
rampage some 18 months previous. A rampage that caused such upheaval
and suffering that the Earth’s greatest city, New York, has
just recently repaired all the damage that it caused, a feat that
it seems destined to repeat.
The trial, which took place
just last week, was witnessed by hundreds of millions of people
worldwide. The general consensus seems to be that Banner got what
he deserved, but many are questioning whether this was actually
the best course of action. Banner’s attorney, Mathew Murdock,
had this to say on the subject, “I was not after publicity…
what can be gained by defending public enemy number 1? I believed
it was the right thing to do. And I will say this; Banner has done
more for this nation, this planet, than any other human being on
this Earth today, what has happened here is a tragedy, for us and
for him. And I’m not Dare Devil.” Murdock then leaped
onto a speeding taxi and grabbed a light pole and vaulted onto the
roof of a nearby apartment building.

“To
get a detailed view of SHIELD's position
on the matter, this reporter got a brief interview with S.H.E.I.L.D.
director, the appropriately named “Nick Fury.” “Nick,”
I said, “can I call you Nick?”
When the room came back into
focus, Mr. Fury politely flung me back into my chair and said charmingly,
“You will call me Mr. Fury, now get to the mother (expletive
deleted) point.”
“What are your feelings
on Bruce Banner’s execution?”
Let me be very clear on
this,” spake he, “I did what was required for me to
do, and not a day will go by that I will not regret what happened,
and not a day will go by that this organization will not sorely
miss him.” After a patchy stare, he left me to tend my aching
jaw, but I could not help but notice that his path seemed to be
beset on all sides by the iniquities of the unrighteous and the
tyrannies of evil men.
Due to Banner’s intense
super human powers, he was executed in a large explosion on a decommissioned
Air Craft Carrier. What this reporter now asks is when is it right,
or necessary to take a life? Was it justice or vengeance that has
been served? What will history call this, a tragedy? An important
step? The beginning of the end? Only time will tell.
