Nextwave 1 |
“Silly in pill form.” What is Nextwave? Well that is an interesting question as the heroes in this comic book are no longer actually in the group called Nextwave. Nextwave was a special forces unit in an anti-terrorism concern known as H.A.T.E. (Highest Anti-Terrorism Effort) which was actually run by terrorists. What do these terrorists do? Well it seems they generally just unleash untold horrors upon the world for no apparent reason. Headed by Dirk Anger, H.A.T.E. is now the enemy of the heroes formerly known as Nextwave. As for the comic itself, it is hilarious, but suffers from a serious case of being overly silly. To be blunt, it is jam-packed with jokes, and only about half of them are funny. The rest? Saturday morning style jokes that you can’t really appreciate unless you have a bike horn to honk whenever you read one. HONK! HONK! My guess is that they were written by Tina Fey. But whatever the reason is, you will just have to read it and decide if it is funnier than annoying or vice versa. I will say that it has a great cast of characters, especially the underdressed “The Captain,” but when the robotic Aaron Stack unleashed his furious android weapons which turned out to greatly resemble a huge Swiss-Army knife, I think I actually heard someone go, “wah, wah, wah.” -Fumanchu |
