Majestic #2 |
Did
you ever wonder what it would be like if Superman had a better costume,
was way cooler, way less dorky, and super smart? Well, you probably didn’t,
but if you did, I have an answer for you. He’d be Majestic. Which
makes sense because they both fill the same spot in different universes.
Yeah, I know, more Universes, but when you have as many stories written
about a guy as Superman does, you kinda run out of material and have to
start reaching for stuff. I mean, just look at Bizarro. What’s up
with that guy? Anyway, the dimension thing seems to be pretty popular
and it seems like it’s here to stay, so let’s make the best
of it.
If you read issue #1, then you know that the writers, Dan Abnet and Andy Lanning, didn’t actually do much writing, but trust me when I say that they make up for it in #2. In Majestic #2, the story goes from simple yet mysterious, to mysterious yet very complicated. The artwork by Neil Googe (penciler) and Trevor Scott (inker) is very good and has great detail even in some of the very complicated cells, and features some spectacular coloring by Carrie Strachan. And you should also check out the very cool and emotional cover by Ed McGuiness and Dexter Vines. As the issue opens, Majestic is in hot pursuit of a ship that has apparently stolen all movable life forms from Earth. Riding in his homemade, faster-that-light, galactic glider that would make Mr. Fantastic jealous, Majestic is approaching the unfathomably large ship for his third and final attempt to break into it. It is final because he knows that his glider cannot withstand a third attack from the horde of bug bots that attack every time he gets close to the vessel. Yet, as Majestic himself says, “third time’s the charm”, and breeches the impossibly large ship. Inside, he finds that whoever is running the ship has taken the beings from many more planets than just Earth, but he doesn’t have much time to think this over because the bug bots begin to attack him again. Just as he looses them, he runs into some strange aliens that proceed to knock him out, so I’d guess he’s in for a bad week. I
truly cannot say where Abnet and Lanning are going with this because I
have no clue. I’m befuzzled. All I can say is that I am very anxious
to find out. |
