Y the Last Man #38 |
Vaughan again?! (Just wait until I hit you in the face with Ultimate X-Men!) Yessir, it is a Vaughan week. What a guy, huh? This stuff he can crank out of his mind is incredible. I wonder if he isn’t really the one who was manufactured by an oddly Dark Hawk-Killable Ultron? The world will never know. I have to say that Y the Last Man is my personal favorite title of Vaughan’s, and is so for too many reasons to list. This issue, for example is filled with mystery, action and suspense, while being revealing and tender. Sounds like a good steak, right? Exactly. There is nothing not to like about this smoky direction the book is taking. The big question in my mind is, when Yorick finds Beth, are they still going to be in love? Does she have another love? Has his idea of Beth become a picture of the other Beth, the one he met in San Fran? Because, for me, it sure has. What is going to happen to 355? Does it seem ironic to anyone but me that Dr. Mann’s girlfriend could easily carry the nickname Ol’ One Eye? These questions and more must be answered in the next few books, if for no other reason than I personally demand it. Also, there is that whole thing about the ship setting sail for Japan on the hunt for Ampersand in like two hours. -Peblee |
