WildCATS: Nemesis #2 |
Lucky for all the fan-boys out there, the Nemesis featured in this comic series is a sight better looking the tube faced, lipless behemoth of the same name featured in Resident Evil: Nemesis. But while the controlled Tyrant may not be pretty, he is at least more original than this large breasted, gung-ho, maverick-renegade, sword wielding, and misunderstood chickadee. Okay, the character is actually much more interesting and three-dimensional than that, but the Elektra mold is unmistakable. The Wildcats, of course, are a team of super heroes featuring Majestic that exist in Majestic’s reality. Chasis, a one-time colleague that they now call Nemesis, has kidnapped a girl who appears to be a part of a devastating plot involving the Daemenites, Majestic’s people’s long time enemies. But because Nemesis is now an enemy of the Wildcats, they don’t listen to her and commence to pummeling. I have to say that this mini series is really good. I always love the (relatively) simple and classic presentation of the Majestic comics, but this series really stands out. Featuring a Japanese inspired present artwork by the talented Talent Caldwell, and the appropriately fantasy-esque style of the flashbacks by Horacio Domingues, the artwork alone makes this book a good read. But then there’s the story, the story may seem somewhat tried, but I have to say that this is good, solid, intriguing action that today’s mainstream comics often lack. True, it’s not exactly intellectually stimulating; the fact remains that it is a good comic. -Fumanchu
