Umbra 1
Umbra, more like Bumbra.
No, this is actually a really good comic, in as much as it tends to keep you guessing and confused, but certainly interested. The story is pretty good. There is a mysterious death that two forensics rookies are trying to solve. It involves nothing less than: A Cavewoman (not drawn by Budd Root) shot by a Soviet handgun; a wooly mammoth; an explosion; and Cruella Deville as the uncomfortable love-interest forensics pro. If that isn’t a bit odd to you, then you need to read this and see how it goes, or dose not go, together.
For me, these incredibly convoluted story lines are the problem with comics in the first place. Seriously, do we need an indy book that is going to rely on alternate dimensions, chosen ones, and all the other stuff that Fumanchu loves so dear? I think not.
BUT, who knows? Maybe this book will turn out to be something special. I can tell you this, for the $5.99 or whatever it cost me, it sure as heck better be.
