Ultimate X-Men Annual #1 |
This story was not only unbelievable, even for X-Men, but it was a bit ridiculous. ALTHOUGH, the ending was very good, and though a bit disturbing in that whole -“No. That can’t happen!”- sort of way, it still was profoundly interesting, and it spells interesting developments to come. Also, Juggernaught made a bare-chested appearance, which was a bit silly, as was the whole X-Men team exercise in the Danger Room. There were however some interesting things that were shown: Bobby made a sexy ice sculpture, Rogue became Gambit, Juggernaught got the snot beat out of him and even got his helmet exploded (WHICH, By the way, the helmet was ridiculously big, as expected, but for once Jugs didn’t have a square hole in his mask for an incredibly flat and square face to stick out from and somehow fit perfectly – I appreciated that immensely.) The dialogue was good, except for the big talk, which seems so out of character for Vaughan that I wonder if he is doing it only because it is an X-Men book, and he wants to do the whole normal team-fighting side-quip thing for the sake of tradition or something? I don’t know, but I can tell you that despite all problems had with said book, the end is the clincher and the set-up for many awesome things to come! -Peblee |
