Twilight Experiment #6 |
Gray and Palmiotti’s WildStorm adventure has come to a close with the installation of two new superheroes. The concept behind The Twilight Experiment is actually a great one. In a universe where there is a noted lack of heroism, plagued by the coming of a temporal rip in space-time capable of destroying not only one world but two, two teenagers will find that they have powers just in the nick of time’s knickers. I know it sounds corny, but there are a few life-lessons along the way, as well as some decent, but poorly colored artwork by Juan Santacruz. The whole problem with this book, despite its orbiting the planet called This Actually Matters, is that it is never quite poignant enough, never gutsy, and never clever enough to warrant it a million sales once it hits TPB, in fact it probably won’t sell a thousand. Why? Well it is sort of like bath water that just don’t cut it – it isn’t too cold, dirty, or burning your feet, it just isn’t anything but pruning, and well, that isn’t good for much. All in all a nice try that needed a little something more. I can’t pretend to know what, but it definitely wasn’t a chosen one. -Peblee |
