Supergirl #1 |
This comic is somewhat frustrating to me. Let me explain. I know that this is only the first issue, but this book as well as #0 have shown a common trend. Supergirl seems to be only portrayed through her relationship with other superheroes. In fact, I am afraid that this comic will be more of an outside look at the JSA than the story of its main character. Supergirl has no basis, no villains, and we are simply hurtled into her story as a growing conflict between herself and the other two heroes from Krypton, Powergirl and Superman. If Supergirl is going to become a beloved character that can hold up her own series, we are going to need a little more perspective on her, and less on Powergirl, Superman, and Superboy. But like I said, the series has only started, and there is plenty of time for all that. Still, I feel like this comic was more of a JSA one shot than the beginning of a one hero series. -Fumanchu
