Sundown Arizona #1

This is a brilliant piece of comic genius which combines the Western theme with the beloved horror genre. The writing, by Jay Busbee is in no way typical of comic books. The dialogue, and even the narration, are so authentically Western and 1800’s, that you cannot escape noticing that Busbee knows his Old West. The unfolding of the story reveals his knowledge of horror.

It is amazing to me when a person is able to so effortlessly combine two genres which do not coincide on a regular basis. At the moment, only the Vampire/Pirate comic, Sea of Red, comes to mind. But this comic is more comfortable, more lucid, more perfect.

This is a stylized book, which is super polished, is a great indy and one of the best outliers I have read in a while. I hope one of you two will pick it up. But, since neither of you read comics, I guess it is not but a fool’s hope.
