Silent Dragon #4

Silent Dragon is only two issues away from completion, and I have to say that I am going to be as sorry to see it end as your parents are that you haven’t left home. I really love this book. Andy Diggle is ever the ephemeral writer. His style is so versatile, never nailed down, constantly changing. I have no idea how someone like Diggle or Grant Morrison can wrap their minds around such varying subjects, characters, and plots, and still pull off excellent series.

The art, though, is what this book is all about. Leinil Francis Yu performs like few before him in a style that is at once the most complicated, and the most simple blend of Japanese and stylized American comic book artwork. Also, while on the artwork it is necessary to point out that the art would not seem so unique if it were not for the light inking by Gerry Alanguilan and the superb coloring of Dave Stewart, who’s contribution may be the prime reason for the incredible nature of this book’s appearance.

Check it out or be lame, and besmirch your foolishness down the road when your mother points out her collection of the brilliant issues and names you “suck-lose.”
