Silent Dragon #1

Set in the not so distant future of Japan, this is the story of a new Yakuza (Japanese Mafia) that bases itself on the almost forgotten code of the Samurai. The country of Japan itself is now controlled by its own Military who rose up and established a communist government. The Yakuza is split into three factions and its members are a curious blend of murderous thieves and honor bound warriors. The main character, Renjiro, is one such warrior who is inconveniently in love with his boss’s wife.

This comic is a bizarre blend of Samurai opera, love story, and techno action. The writing and cell layout are amazing, and the artwork is a perfect blend of the aforementioned genres. I hope you will listen when I say that this will be a great, dramatic, and epic series, and I strongly recommend that you get a copy of this issue before I buy them all.
