Runaways #8 |
In the previous Runaways series, we were briefly introduced to a couple of characters known as Cloak and Dagger, a team of B-list heroes that have the whole “light and dark” thing going on. But they dropped out of the story after Dagger was brutally beaten by a person that may, or may not have been Cloak. Now the Avengers have come to take Cloak into custody. In desperation, he asks the Runaways to help him find the person that impersonated him, and for some unknown reason, the answers to this mystery lie in New York City. With Karolina gone, the Runaways are down to five again. Happily, the artwork is once again in the hands of Adrian Alphona, and Vaughan’s writing is as good as ever. Trust me when say that most comic fans will like this book. It is brilliantly written, but retains a simplistic story line and is extremely fun to read. I think things are going to get a lot more interesting as the Runaways continue to develop as characters, in both personality and powers. I also think it is going to be interesting watching Nico sort out her feelings for Karolina (woo woo!). Most importantly, I am wondering when Chase is going to get some ass-kicking ability again. I know his character is fine without powers, but sometimes it doesn’t seem fair. -Fumanchu |
