Powers #11 |
Powers is so sweet that I wet my breeches daily just thinking of the wondrous genius that writes this book, and who somehow writes New Avengers, which is not sweet or ingenius in any way. But, Oh, Powers! It is so immensely clever. For example, Bendis can switch to a new story arc within the old story arc. What an incredible idea! Can you imagine a book where the story is continuous (I know, Lucifer) but I mean a mainstream comic!? What do you mean? Powers is an Icon comic, not Marvel, DC, or Image?! Impossible! Then how can it be soooooooo good? Oh, right. Because it is Icon (Bendis, David Mack – Kabuki) it is so good. It has the ability to be a classic and great book, while surviving without the backing of huge corporate conglomeracy. Listen to me, both of you. Powers is the best crime/cop drama out there. It is the answer to superhero comics, and it is funny too. Be advised one of the central characters is plagued by their own powers now. What will be the outcome? I don’t know, but rest assured, it will be far more entertaining than 99% of the other outcomes and cancellations* in the industry.
*Cancellations, Image, are not seen as thematic outcomes by the board of trustees at the Near Mint Minus comic and hamburger industrial giant of conglomeration. -Peblee |
