Outsiders #27

With Nightwing gone (Outsiders #25), Arsenal is in charge of the Outsiders. In the recent story arch “tick tock,” Arsenal teams up with some of the old Outsiders to end an unfinished case that began back in their day. A man named Fuse turned a large number of people into walking bombs. He then controlled these “bombs” kill switches mentally, but after he was put into a full comma, the people found that they were able to control the process and prevent themselves from exploding. The Outsiders at the time decided to place tracking chips into the left hands of all those infected, but to otherwise let them live out their lives in hopes that the situation was over. But recently, they all seemed to have activated at once, and one of their number removed her hand and has been tracking each of the others down and killing them to prevent them from detonating.

Though it is a pretty interesting story, I am very annoyed that this series has completely ignored the strife and anguish of its many members. In fact, Arsenal is the only one that has been in the last two issues. I mean, Nightwing quits, the Outsiders are ripped apart, Indigo is dead, and we go into some campy old “back in action” nonsense. The quality of the art and writing has dropped significantly, and the girl on the cover has both of her hands. I know that the cover artist doesn’t always read the book, but come on!

I want to know what this little deviation in story and quality is all about! But, what ever the reason, Outsiders has really dropped the ball. This series was one of the best mainstream comics out there. Get it together guys!
