Mnemovore #2

This is a bizarre story about an oozing, betentacled creature which feeds of human memories. While the artwork is simplistic and, admittedly not very good; the story itself is creepily brilliant. From what I understand, the creature was created as a result of a large company using mass media to send signals into the brains of the public. And while one of the board members of said company is losing his mind with guilt, a young, snowboarding girl (I know it’s lame) has a bout of amnesia which is unusually contagious…

Though the first issues focused on the trauma and awkwardness of memory loss, the series is swiftly shifting into horror mode as the creature claims its first victim, and it looks like the aforementioned executive might be number two.

Like I said, the art isn’t great, but neither is it that bad. And the story more than makes up for its aesthetical problems. It is an interesting look at the dangers caused by the amount of stuff that goes into our brains everyday. My one major problem is that the girls knew that her boyfriend was attacked by the strange creature that, for all she knew, might still be in his head. Then, when he forgot who she was, did she go to the hospital? No, she goes to her dad and complains about how bad things are for her. Meanwhile, lover-boy gets his brains eaten out.
