Mega City 909 #8 Cover B |
“Almost horror, almost techno, almost noir, almost good.” What seemed to be a futuristic techno horror of brilliant proportions quickly spiraled down the toilet of interesting thought into the sewer of Saturday Morning Manga nonsense. As quickly and spastically as an episode of Digimon, this comic was heaped with supernatural inanity in a vain attempt to be cool. I will admit that it had potential, but what the hell happened? Hoek was a controlled psychopath; I get that. But where did that Norse demon come from and where the hell did it go? And he went through that whole DBZ power up just to be tranqued and lobotomized? And how many apocalyptic entities of evil can you fit into one climax? Did the entire other dimension just disappear to have no effect whatsoever on the plot? How did a helicopter outrun a nuclear bomb? And the skull guys with the scythes? It seems like a seventh grader who forsook his Ritalin wrote the second half of this series while constantly disclaiming, “Oh, that would be so cool!” and “Awesome!” and “Half naked, unrealistically proportioned girls, big guys with swords, explosions, and endless gore: I can’t loose! Why do I even need a plot? This story writes itself!” Well you suck, kid. I want my money back. -Fumanchu |
