Majestic #10

Two Majestic titles in one week? What’s happened to Fumanchu, you say? Well I know that I often feature more independent or oddball comics, (and I actually choose to review this comic over the Goon) but I did this for a couple of reasons. 1. I have already mind-numbingly barraged you with countless rants of Eric Powell ass kissing. 2. I think that there is a lot to be said for Majestic’s simplified and classic action packed style. 3. I can’t count.

Yes indeed, there is something to be said for the good, old fashioned, story. Though alternate dimensions and time-travel lie on the cusps of this story, the main meet of the comic is well thought out, relatively simple stories and solid, exciting action. This comic is blessedly free from the tragedies of comic books (or writers) that try to out step their bounds. Let’s face it. Big money comics have big restriction unless you can get your hands on a mini series. If you are going to write for the big names, you just need to simplify. If you try to make things too complicated or just senselessly irrational, the big guys will edit you down so that the layman can understand. What you end up with is a dumb story with a highhanded delivery and a whole mess of stupid, psuedointellectual nonsense. Know your role people.

Maybe I’ll tell you about the story when the next issue comes out; for now I will leave you with this thought. Write what you can, not what you can’t. If you have to choose between making it seem smart or making it good; go with good.
