Klarion #3 |
Klarion is perhaps the greatest and most bizarre of Grant Morrison’s Seven Soldiers mini series. As a member of a subverted and highly superstitious colony of Puritan-like witches, Clarion is not exactly human and posses a wide range of mysterious powers. What powers you ask? Well I can’t really tell you because, up till now, they have only been hinted at, while Klarion survives with a mixture of luck and the help of his familiar, Teekl, the cat. In an Oliver Twist, uh, twist, Klarion is taken in by a strange looking man called Mister Melmoth who uses gifted youngsters to commit crimes for him until they are old enough to “go red.” This means that they move on to a more advanced crime team, but in actuality, they become slaves for Melmoth’s employers until they die from exhaustion. This comic has some truly great and unusual artwork as well as a heap of intensely interesting characters. There’s Billy Breezer, the pimp-like leader of the Deviants (Melmoth’s kid crime team), Mr. Nobody, the kid that no one can see despite the fact that he is plainly visible, and then there is the doll-like Mister Melmoth who hints at having a strange connection to Klarion. Add this to a brilliant story and killer dialogue, and it is obvious why this is one of my favorite mini series of all time. I promise you that with the inevitable revealing of Klarion’s true power, the truth about Melmoth, and the attack on Limbo Town, this series is getting ready to rock its readers respective socks off. -Fumanchu |
