Justice #1

Such a potent and wrenching beginning, you know that it has to be a dream. The thing that is weird is that it is a dream dreamt by super villains, including a quite delectable depiction of Cheetah in a pose which suggests her own particular strange and wonderfully death-defying fetish.

What’s more, the dream seems to be a concoction of Luthor’s aimed at uniting the super villains in an effort to topple the JLA. The thing is, it seems a bit silly, and is all drastically turned on its head. The villains, egged-on by the dream, as it were, are trying basically to save humanity, lead by the deranged philanthropy of Luthor.

Naturally the art, by Alex Ross, is tremendous. The story too, as I said is poignant, it is just a bit convoluted, and seems to suggest that the super villains of the DCU could have been winning the whole time, if only they had had such a noble cause.

Prediction: If the super villains become the super heroes by ridding the world of its present super heroes, they will also need to be destroyed so that earth can once again be marshaled by mankind without any supertypes causing them to be complacent. This means that Luthor will have to destroy the super villains that aid him in his quest, which is no doubt his plan.
