JSA: Classified #1 |
Though the art on the interior of this comic (Amanda Conner) is fraught with over-boobed women wearing nothing but overly sarcastic facial expressions, I have to say that the story, focusing on the origins of Power Girl, is actually quite good – especially when you get to the end. BUT, let it be known that the cover of this book, by Adam Hughes, is beyond excellent, and will no doubt be remembered as one of the best DC covers in history. Adam Hughes, who is known for his hot, pin-up style girly covers, is a blessing to the JSA, which always seems to need blessings. If you take a look back, you will see that the JSA books constantly feature the cover art of Ross, or someone equally great, like, say, Adam Hughes, but the interior art is always lousy. And, as long as we are being all frank and stein here, let me say that the few times (admittedly few) that I have tried to read JSA the story, like unto the interior art, was a let-down. So, lesson number 4, 353 is: Don’t judge a book by its cover, but buy even crappy books for the sake of a fine cover.* *see Wolverine: Soultaker, but do not buy it – even for the cover... ever. Promise me you won’t. -Peblee |
