Batman: Journey into Knight #1

This series takes a look into the early days of Batman, and features a much less paranoid and much more naïve Bruce Wayne. After learning a hard lesson about gender stereotyping, Batman discovers that there is a new and dangerous drug on the streets and, of course, intends to get to the bottom of things while punching plenty of people in the face along the way. Unfortunately, drugs are the least of Batman’s worries, because a plane full of South American epidemic just landed in Gotham. Or are the drug and the disease somehow related?

It is no surprise that the recent Batman movie would have fans interested in the unhumble beginnings of the Caped Crusader. This is a simpler time in which Batman asks questions before he pummels, and Alfred is still genuinely attempting to get Bruce to “stop all this nonsense” and the like.

The artwork is not that great, though it does sport some interesting and well done facial expressions. All together, this comic was a good read, and I think that this is a series worth checking out.
