Jonah Hex #1 |
Well, the former mayor of Carmel by the Sea is all dressed up for Halloween. Who is Mr. Eastwood going trick or treating as? Why, Jonah Hex, of course. Let me tell you, dearest and only reader, I want to sing the praises of this book aloud in the shopping malls and dog-fight arenas of the world. This book surpassed my expectations by far. Being too young and poverty-stricken to read the initial run of Jonah Hex, and realizing that all subsequent attempts at Jonah Hex material were utter poo, I have just read my first JH story, and I am hooked. Justin Gray and Jimmy Palmiotti have done with this book the same thing that Kurt Busiek did with Conan. That went back to the original ideas, the original mean and mad nature that the books meant to portray at their inception. How do I know this? Listen, I just regurgitate stuff I hear from other people – I didn’t even read the book – Just Kidding. No, in fact I did hear from a comic customer of cosmic proportions that this is a revamp of an old Hex story. So, I assume that Gray and Palmiotti are going to continue with what works. All they need do is look towards Busiek/Nord, and they will see that I am right. It must be said that the artwork in this book, by Luke Ross, is exceptional. Buy it, or leave your soul to the carrion. -Fumanchu |
