House of M #5 |
Oh how this series just makes me mad. I love it, and I really don’t want to. It is the immense snob within me who grimaces at my impossibly huge love for all things Bendis. This new chick is pretty cool. She just goes from person to person telling it like it is. Only, she does it inside their brains so that it really sinks in. She does tend to upset a lot of people with her methods, but then they needs must be shaken from there Scarlet Witch induced slumber. But, I wonder if she is causing another, more physical effect? You see, everyone in this title seems to be growing progressively wider. Has anyone else noticed the ever increasing girth? If not, let me prove it by having you look at Scott on page 4, and then again on page 11. I mean honestly, that is insane. She must be bending space-time causing an increase in gravity, and thereby stoutifying each of her victims. There is a poignant aspect of this story, though. Hawkeye, being dead as he is (for now) is faced with remembering the fact that he cannot exist. This presents a conundrum: Why did he reappear in this new world. It says that Magneto had SW give everyone their deepest wish, so I guess Hawkeye’s deepest wish was to be alive. Either that, or someone else’s deepest desire was to see him live. So what now? If he remembers that he is dead will he cease to be? How can he live on in the hallucination, if he knows it isn’t real? My guess: He will sacrifice himself and die once more in a showdown with the House of M. Either that or there is a new Hawkeye series up and coming, and they are going to say that one of the positive results of SW changing the world is that Hawkeye came back to life…yep, that just might be it. -Peblee |
