House of M #3 |
House of M is the world that Magneto created using the reality altering powers of the Scarlet Witch (his daughter). In this world, Mutants are on top, and Humans or saps (pronounced sayps) are severely discriminated against and are slowly dying out. To prevent any of the world’s heroes from returning the world to normal, Magneto has given them all new lives. Some of these are fantastic, and some are horrific. But all of them are designed to keep the heroes from realizing what is going on. This series, however, should perhaps be entitled Wolverine: House of M, because the series seems to focus on everybody’s favorite chops sport’n mutant. Something about Wolverine (I’m guessing his healing factor or perhaps his stubborn resistance to change) has enabled him and him alone to remember the real world. As you can imagine, this is quite distressing, and he has a bit of an episode and raises the suspicion of the members of his Special Forces unit. (Which includes his new girly, Mystique). And, after he kicks some serious ass, looks for Xavier, and kicks some more ass, Wolverine is captured by a Human underground movement headed by the insidious gangster Luke Cage. I cannot tell you how excited I am about this series. Though the art in this comic is not grand, it is decent enough. What is exciting is that it seems that Marvel is getting their act together. This is some good reading right here. (Although those who read all of the House of M titles will notice that the exact situation of the Mutant/Human condition is different in each one). Still, it is a lot more synchronized than the various Talia al Ghul’s running around in the DC universe. -Fumanchu |
