Spider-Man: House of M #1

For the lowdown on what exactly House of M is, check out my review of House of M cleverly entitled House of M. Things are looking up for Peter Parker. He is the billionaire owner of Spider Man Industries, married to the pleasantly alive Gwen Stacy, bought out Norman Osborne, employs and torments JJ Jameson, is well known and loved by the public, and finally has nothing to make hilarious complaints about. Uncle Ben is alive, Marry Jane is his co-actor, and most of his enemies now work with or for him. But all is not well in Spider Land. Peter has developed an extremely mean streak towards JJ Jameson that is much, much worse that Jameson ever was to him. On top of this, the world thinks that Spider-Man is a Mutant, a fact that could be very dangerous when you consider that Mutants rule the world and might not find that charade very funny. And as if this is not enough trouble, Jameson is approached by the Green Goblin with an offer to help him bring down Peter Parker.

The art is phenomenal, and the writing is brilliant. And since Peter has nothing to make non-stop little self-destructive quips over, I am actually starting to like him. I would venture to say that, while this is not the most important House of M series, it is probably the best.
