Conan #21 |
As you all well know, I have a very large and particular love for this Conan series. From the gritty, fitting, and pungent artwork of Cary Nord to Kurt Busiek’s masterful re-workings of the original Conan tales, this series is as good as it gets. In this tale, The Tower of the Elephant, we see Conan on a thief’s errand to fetch an impossible treasure. Along the way we got to meet Taurus, the Prince of Thieves - the greatest thief who ever lived, until Conan anyway. Now, here is my big complaint: This guy, the Prince of Thieves, he is way cool. I mean he is the coolest guy on the block. You don’t mess with a cloth/leather-cod-piece-combo clad barrel of a man like this. I mean he is like a shameless wizard of anti-accessory fashion and dexterous pillaging styles. This is the guy who you want to drink beer with at the barbeque. Again I submit his picture for your approval:
The stories he could tell along with the jokes and lies, oh man. But, alas he was struck dead not twenty pages after we met him. One moment he was there and the next he was a pile on a cold stone floor. Alas fair Prince, I hardly knew thee. Why?! This was a great character. He could’ve double-crossed Conan, and Conan would have still respected him. This is a character that we need more of! I demand it! Either satiate my desires, or I will be forced to write them to you a second time! -Peblee |
