Black Harvest #1

Admittedly, Josh Howard was feeling the need to branch out of the sci-fi/horror/religion scene. But, despite those initial misgivings he is back with a book smack-dab in the middle of sci-fi/horror/religio-land.

This book, Black Harvest, is separate from the Dead@17 plotline, but filled with many of the same trappings that made those books so appealing. The artwork is of course noticed right off as purely Josh Howard, and, as one reads the story, it too cannot be mistaken for that of some other writer. But, unlike volume three of Dead@17, this is a fresh story with a beginning that we can all be in on at the same time.

It is a far-out sort of start, with an investigative blogger on the trail of alien lights, but it soon becomes a who’s crooked and who’s not situation, as the blogger finds himself in the middle of a bad situation involving a kidnapped girl, cops without ethics, and a damsel-in-distress turned angel-of-death.

If that sounds lame, it is because I am writing about it, and my writing doesn’t feature hot chicks drawn by Josh Howard. Buy it, you don’t even have to read it to enjoy.
