Batgirl #64

Well it seems that Cassandra (Batgirl) is not going to get any breaks in her new job defending Bludhavem (nice name, right?). Because just when things start to calm down, Deathstroke pays a visit in an effort to test his daughter, The Ravager, against Batgirl. Writer Anderson Gabrych uses the relationship between the killer father/daughter team to address the issues that Cassandra has with her murderous father. We discover how much Batgirl respects and hates her father and at the same time get a glimpse into her brilliant psyche as she uses her knowledge of this bizarre relationship to defeat the Ravager. Finally, I begin to understand just how brilliant Cassandra is, in a lot of ways, she is a lot like the Batman we have come to know and love. But as we see at the end of this issue, Batgirl is far more ruthless that Bats ever was.

An alright issue, the story was important if not terribly well done. For a series that is on #64, we know very little about the main character. The art is not revolutionary in any way, but it’s not bad. This issue holds important information about Batgirl so I recommend picking it up, but don’t make an opinion about the series based on this tomb of mediocrity.
