Bad Planet #1 |
Yet another Image comic at a regular price, could this be the start of a new trend? I sure hope so, because the fact is that image comes out with a lot of great and unique comics. Bad Planet is no exception. The premise is this, a couple of gross and perverted aliens are charged with toeing a large and bizarre object to some unknown part of space. But they loose the object in an accident, and it plummets gently through space to arrive at Earth 400 years later. Discovered by a buxom nerd-lover, this object called NEO (Near Earth Object) 2005FW and is expected to crash harmlessly outside the United States. But as it nears the surface, two ships fly out of the object, one of which is blown up by some kind of insurgent or other. And out of the wreckage streams a horde of space prisoners. Though this does seem like a great comic, neither character on the cover are introduced in this comic, a controversial and slightly annoying move. The artwork is great and very nonstandard with a sort of gritty, sketchy feel. Writers Thomas Jane and Steve Niles have created the potential for a great and unique twist on the badass action hero genre. I think this is going to be a comic that is definitely worth reading, so you better check it out before you wreck it out, fool. -Fumanchu |
