I am currently watching a true example of high-cinema, by which, of course, I mean Dare Devil the movie. Now by “high-cinema” I mean utter rubbish, and by “currently watching” I mean that it is interrupting my ability to write a review about Albion.

Just what is Albion? It is a conceptual comic about a world which is believed to have no superheroes. The truth seems to point to the contrary though, and believe me it sure took a long time for the lass in the title to not-quite-convince the leading fellow that heroes are (or at least were) real.

Yet, despite the fact that Dare Devil (the major motion picture) has more action in 3 minutes than does this comic book in its entirety, I still enjoy this book very much; probably, mostly, and utterly because I am absolutely, and almost sort of, interested in the subject of conspiracy-theories. I am especially interested in the idea that in our Science knows best DON”T QUESTION IT world, there could still exist the supernatural, or possibly even the unthinkable – think about it.

Naturally Moore is an excellent writer, and the art by Shane Oakly is minimalist and hip (unlike myself). So, I would love to drop accolades into the lap of this title, and perhaps I will, someday. This issue, however, I felt did not deserve it, but it does deserve more attention than I am giving to Dare Devil. Oh well. At least Albion doesn’t come equipped with loud, obnoxious, melodramatic rock and a shoulder-stabbing.
