Albion #1 |
Albion is a great concept piece (like, say Fumanchu in his ballerina early years,) by a most talented and beloved author. Alan Moore, who was most recently famous for writing League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, was a bit of a disappointment (to me, anyway) in the form of Hypothetical Lizard. But, rest assured if Albion fails at anything it is disappointing. Albion is a comic set in a modern Londonesque metropolis. There is a young lad who is an avid comic fan and notices that a certain criminal being brought to court looks like an old comic villain. Through this encounter he meets a young hipster of a lass who takes him back to her flat and begins to reveal to him various real-life superheroes, or at least clues that point to their actual existence. The thing is it seems that they may have simply been in existence in the past, but this was unclear. No matter what, as long as this title steers away from talking dogs and bedonged chicks, it is sure to be a great series. -Peblee |
