Zatanna #2 |
Grant Morrison may be working on his greatest masterpiece. The Seven Soldiers series are so massively impressive that they are getting out of control. Zatanna is no exception. With mystery, wit and uncertain danger this comic is perfect, if not hard to understand and a bit wandering. This book has yet to show how it is going to tie into the whole cabal of the Seven Soldiers, but I expect that things will start to coalesce once the third and fourth issues of each comes to counters. If you haven’t checked out the Seven Soldiers series, then you have been missing out and have a lot of catching up to do. The good thing is that these books are overshadowing the Count Down and Crisis stuff, which may seem impossible considering the advertisement and the hype. These books are so excellent that they are going to go down in history as both Grant Morrison’s greatest and DC’s biggest improvement in history. One last word, the art by Ryan Sook is perhaps the best in the Seven Soldiers series. The colors, by Nathan Eyring is particularly impressive. Have a look:
Perfect art in connection with the overly impressive writing of Morrison is something that everyone should check out.
